Over the weekend I was in a horse competition and they were playing music all day. Most of the songs were related to racing or were upbeat, but the one song they didn’t play that I thought would be perfect was Don’t Stop (Color the Walls) by Foster the People. The song is upbeat and the idea of “don’t stop” is perfect for games! So here it is, the song of the week!
Happy Monday everyone!
I just got back last night from a horse competition with my friends from home and I am SO sore! I really need to get myself in shape before the next one…
Anyways, this is just a quick update on things that have been going on.
I have been working little by little on my “book” so far and I will try to post up the first chapter this week. My goal is to have it done and ready by Wednesday, seeing as how I’ll be super busy starting Thursday. I’m so excited to go home early this weekend! I only have a few weeks of classes left this semester and I am really looking forward to summer.
If you want to check out my other blog, its called All Things Equine and the title just about sums it up. I post a lot more on there it seems like than here but I’m working on balancing it all out 🙂
Have a great week!
We all know about the tornadoes that ravaged parts of the country a few days ago, wiping out whole towns and causing devastation everywhere. I was in school at the time the first of the storms hit our area, and we were very lucky we were south of the worst of it.
The crazy thing is not that we were having tornado warnings in early March, but that about a day later I woke up to a snowy landscape outside my window. There was a heavy blanket of snow over everything, giving the feel of a winter wonderland rather than a recently-tormented-with-tornadoes mud spot. I walked to work singing “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” under my breath, to my greatest dismay. Christmas was three months ago, and we didn’t have the idealized white Christmas that Bing Crosby sings about in his most recognized recording. Was Mother Nature hearing us celebrating an early spring and almost non-existent winter?
I like to think that Mother Nature sleeps during the snowy times, like she’s hibernating, and every now and then she feels like sleeping in and gives us a harsher winter. But then, much like this year, she decides that she doesn’t want to sleep in and stays up all season. In my head, I imagine this twelve hour snowy period as a nap for her. After all, she stayed up almost all winter! I know how it feels to pull a few all-nighters in a row, and a nap goes a long way.
To top off a week of strange weather, Mother Nature decided to tease us all with a cloudless sky and comfortable seventy-degree weather with a slight breeze. Maybe she’s energized from her nap the other day and is encouraging us to go outside and soak up the sunshine. Or maybe she has finally decided to get the spring season officially started. Or maybe she just feels like giving us a sunny day to enjoy life. No matter what her reason, I spent my free time out in the sun energizing myself and preparing for what is to come, be it tornado-like stress, snowy sleepiness, or sunny happiness. Everything in the universe has a voice, but you are the only one that can interpret it for yourself.
